The Hamsa  is considered in this era as an amulet to protect from the evil eye. Its names Hamsa chamsa or Khamsa derives from the Arabic language five. It is also known as the famous “Fatima Hand”( the daughter of Muhamad) it has the palm shape hand. It is well known all over the middle East to wear a Hamsa as jewelry or have it hung on your home walls , so for protection against the evil eye. There are many theories as for its origin, as ancient Carthage (Tunisia) or ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia (Iraq). One can see on antiquities of the mentioned countries many home ornaments with the protecting Hamsa hand. It is containing usually a symbolic blue eye in center.
